Pisa
Discover Italy with SRISA field trip to Pisa
A stay in Tuscany would not be complete without paying a visit to the city that houses perhaps the world’s most famous tower, which has been leaning since the day it was revealed in 1399. Standing slightly askew in the city’s beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), the tower was constructed from 1173 to 1399 and is, in fact, the bell tower of the Duomo and the accompanying Baptistry. Take time to admire this square and be sure to take the obligatory picture of you trying to hold up the tower! Afterwards, Pisa is the perfect place to meander along the Arno river, passing sights such as the Clock Palace and the Piazza dei Cavalieri, as well as the Cemetery and the church of Santa Maria della Spina. Be sure to pick up some leaning tower souvenirs before you go.
