Health and Safety at SRISA

Our pre-departure and onsite orientations offer comprehensive health and safety information to ensure students feel confident navigating their new environment.

From essential tips on local healthcare resources to emergency protocols, we prioritize equipping students with the knowledge they need for a secure and fulfilling experience. This vital information is provided in our printed orientation handbook which serves as a helpful reference throughout their time abroad.

The mental health of our students is something we take very seriously at SRISA. We recognize the importance of creating a supportive environment for student well-being and success. To provide comprehensive support, we work with a local independent counselor with whom students can schedule sessions. Additionally, we maintain a list of English-speaking professionals available to all students when needed. All students are required to come with comprehensive health coverage. We strongly advise that they choose coverage that includes mental health benefits.

What is Period Poverty?

Period poverty is a global issue, limiting access to essential menstrual products due to cost, taxation, and economic inequality. In many countries, pads and tampons are still taxed as luxury items, making them unaffordable for those already struggling to meet basic needs. The stigma surrounding menstruation further limits awareness, leaving countless individuals without the resources they need. Addressing period poverty isn’t just about hygiene; it’s about economic justice, education, and human dignity.
