Gloria Marco Munuera

My teaching method stresses the importance of conceptual thinking. It is vital for any teacher to continue with their professional practice, to update skills and to continue to feed inspiration to their students.

Gloria Marco Munuera (born in Spain) is an art photographer who uses digital and alternative techniques within photography. Marco Munuera holds a PhD in Fine Arts Photography from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, an MFA from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, an MA in Photography from the Libera Accademia of Art in Florence, Italy, and a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Music by the Royal Conservatory of Classical Music of Albacete, Spain.

Her research explores the boundaries of biometric methodology and identification through photography. She is particularly interested in the representation of inherent human identity such as the skin of our bodies. Her investigation aims to depict non-figurative but reliable forms of identity, rather than to represent a visual “truth” based on Renaissance perspective and traditional principles of representation.

Marco Munera’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Austria, Australia, Argentina, Italy, Russia, Spain, and the United States. She has been awarded several prizes and scholarships including the Spanish National Prize of Photography in 2007. Some of her work has been published in art magazines such as Photo and Video, and Isla Desnuda. In conjunction with her professional practice, Marco Munuera is a professor of photography at various universities in Florence, Italy.
