Serigraphy or Silkscreen is a printmaking technique that can be applied to fine art prints, graphic design, and photographic experimentation. The course covers various stencil making techniques, such as paper and cut stencils, and direct block out. The main emphasis is on photographic emulsion techniques using hand-drawn acetates, photocopies, computer printouts and photographs with litho film or diffusion transfer film. Instruction in darkroom procedures, ink mixing, registration and printing methods will be given.
NOTE: This course runs through SRISA’s external partners at Lab.Fi that collects their own materials fees. Anticipated materials fees are around 250 Euro to be paid to the external partner. SRISA students may take up to 1 course through an external partner.
SRISA studio courses will have personal and course materials to be purchased in Florence. Unless otherwise specified there is no need to bring consumable supplies with you. On the first day of class your professor will inform you of materials needed and where to get them in Florence.
