No prerequisite is required for this class, it is recommended for students who want to know Florence and its wonderful historical development since the Ancient Roman times until the end of the Renaissance.
This course will guide the students in the history of Florence for a clear understanding of the birth of this worldwide beloved city, and an understanding of the history of Italy, its contradictions and divisions, but also its great art, literature, and political development. The students will be presented with an interdisciplinary overview of the history of Florence from the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of Modern Era. The most prominent characters of the Florentine history will be presented one by one, through on-site visits and in-class lectures.
