This course is designed for foundation-level drawing students who want to learn or improve the essential techniques of object and observational drawing, including intermittent drawing of the human figure.

During the program, students will be introduced to all the fundamental principles and elements of drawing as well as the key techniques and media. Every lesson will have a precise goal, forming a progression of skills that students build up over the course of the semester, aided by weekly sketchbook exercises. Lessons are enhanced by lectures, on-site visits, and slides that include both old master and contemporary works.

SRISA studio courses will have personal and course materials to be purchased in Florence. Unless otherwise specified, there is no need to bring consumable supplies with you. On the first day of class, your professor will inform you of the materials needed and where to get them in Florence.
