DANC 3102
TBA
This course is for students who already had preparatory courses and experience in contemporary dance.
This course introduces students of contemporary dance to expanded approaches to performance as action, inquiry, and relational practice. Working from foundational explorations of posture, gesture, and sensory attention, students engage in studio activities. The course emphasizes perceptual refinement, spatial and temporal awareness, along with processes of collective observation and transmission. Critical perspectives are developed through readings in philosophy and contemporary body theory, supporting students in integrating embodied practice with reflective analysis. By the end of the course, students will have deepened their technical, conceptual, and relational understanding of performance-making.
SRISA studio courses will have personal and course materials to be purchased in Florence. Unless otherwise specified there is no need to bring consumable supplies with you. On the first day of class your professor will inform you of materials needed and where to get them in Florence.
