While the course is open to all students, basic knowledge in modern and contemporary history and art history is recommended.
This course examines how artists have responded to the social meanings of ideologies and theories within political, historical, and cultural contexts. Using the body, movement, space, and politics as key lenses, the students in this class will explore major artistic and theoretical developments of the 20th and 21st centuries, creating connections between visual art, performance, dance, experimental theatre, and social action.
