San Gallo Campus

The San Gallo Campus, located on Via San Gallo, is the main studio arts campus.

The San Gallo Campus is SRISA’s main site and creative heart. It features print studios, fine arts studios, a photography studio, and the SRISA Gallery—a contemporary public art space that presents innovative exhibitions by emerging and established local and international artists.

The campus occupies a palazzo constructed in 1775 by Florentine musician Domenico Melani, replacing buildings dating back to 1506. In 1837, it was acquired by Felice Le Monnier, a French printer, who established the famous Le Monnier publishing house and the renowned Le Monnier Library, which operated here from 1926 to 2007. SRISA keeps this tradition alive today, as students can study printmaking and book arts in our fully equipped studios. The vaulted ceiling and large open spaces are unique in Florence and offer a dialogue between the contemporary and historic architectural elements.
