Grocery Stores and Markets
Grocery Stores / Supermarkets
There are many grocery stores and supermarkets throughout the center. The main ones are Conad/Conad City (these are smaller versions of Conad), Carrefour, and Pam.
Store hours: Most supermarkets are open all day from around 8:30 am-9 pm. Some local fruit and vegetable, butcher and general stores stay open from around 9 am to 1 pm and then close for lunch and reopen anywhere from 2:30 pm-4 pm and close around 7 pm or 8 pm. The opening hours should be written on the door. Many small stores are closed on Saturday afternoon, Sunday (all day), and Monday morning.
Cook at home and save money!! For budget-friendly meals, we suggest that you take the time to experiment with cooking. Use the fabulous seasonal ingredients here in Florence that are part of traditional Tuscan dishes.
- Esselunga – Via Masaccio 276. Very big and well stocked! You can walk or catch bus 1 or 7 from Piazza San Marco and get off at the last stop on Viale Don Minzoni (just ask the bus driver for the Esselunga stop). Hint: Share a taxi home with your roommates.
