Project by Pietro Gaglianò
This exhibition underlines SRISA Gallery’s mission, which is fundamentally to open the space to important international artists but at the same time giving opportunities to emerging artists.
A new generation of young artists is working on constructing new relationships between the art of painting and its tradition. As has frequently happened with the history of painting, such artists have their eye on the contemporary present but also on the history and the masters of the past. They explore references, which belong to a common heritage, and are shown to be alive and well in these artists’ works by inspiring them and shining a new light through their art.
Davide D’Amelio, Giuseppe Renda and Giuseppe Vassallo express the complexity that lies at the heart of the relationship between the artist and art without quoting, without iconoclasm, and without nostalgia.
