History

History courses at SRISA introduce students to Italian history from the origin of Italian power in Europe, the formation of European identity in the 8th century, and modern times. They also cover the most prominent phases of Italian history, such as the unification (Risorgimento) in the 19th century and the present.

Students develop a comprehensive understanding of Italy’s history and politics. They gain knowledge not only of the key events and important figures in modern Italian political history but also of the underlying dynamics. This includes recognizing trends of continuity and change, cause and effect, and the interplay of regional, national, and international influences. Moreover, students learn about the significance of global events within the context of Italy. Such courses provide those studying in Italy with a deeper appreciation of the country’s modern history and contemporary culture, enriching their experience while living and studying there.
