Obtaining Passports and Student Visas
If you’re not from the EU and your Italian program lasts over 3 months, you’ll need a student visa from your region’s Italian embassy/consulate. They’ll ask for documents, including an enrollment letter we provide. Remember, your visa limits your stay in Europe. Make an appointment within 60-90 days before the program begins. Some Consulates allow notarized mail-in applications but always double-check their site to see if this is an option.
- A current passport. The passport must be at least 6 months after the end of the program. This is needed to apply for the Student Visa.
- A Student Visa. Allow for a minimum of four weeks for processing. U.S. students may click here for more information. Non-U.S. students must inquire with their home country’s passport office.
- All semester students, with the exception of EU citizens, must have a study visa for stays longer than 90 days.
- U.S. students should visit the Italian Consular Network page for more information.
- Non-U.S. students must inquire with the Italian Consulate that services their jurisdiction within their home country as a visa will be required for all terms, regardless of the duration of stay. Click here for more information about how and where to apply.
