Course Description:
This course will guide students in the history of Florence for a clear understanding of the birth of this worldwide beloved city, and an understanding of the history of Italy, its contradictions and divisions, but also its great art, literature, and political development. Students will be presented with an interdisciplinary overview of the history of Florence from ancient Roman times to the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of Modern Era. The most prominent characters of the Florentine history will be presented one by one through onsite visits and in class lectures.
