Course Description:
Graphic Design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas. In this course, graphic design is approached as an instrument of communication for artists. Students will begin to understand and effectively use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create visually coherent works of digital imagery. In this course, students will work with drawn, painted, photographed and/or computer-generated images in order to communicate an idea, announce or sell, amuse or persuade the viewer. Students will become familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign software in addition to the understanding of design processes and digital image manipulation. Projects will be mainly developed within an artistic and creative drive rather than purely commercial.
SRISA studio courses will have personal and course materials to be purchased in Florence. Unless otherwise specified there is no need to bring consumable supplies with you. On the first day of class your professor will inform you of materials needed and where to get them in Florence.
