Course Description:
In this advanced studio course, students will be doing highly developed project-based works in the media of painting and drawing. Students will be asked to work with ideas in painting and drawing that pull from both pictorial and conceptual methods of working in order to better understand how images are being classified in today’s art world. The idea behind combining both subjects into one course, therefore, is to encourage students to see how ideas sometimes are best put into visual form through more than one media. The lessons are intensive in their nature, requiring many hours outside of the classroom during the duration of the semester. This course is intended for students who have already mastered many technical skills related to their "craft" but are keen on taking their art to a level of professional distinction.
SRISA studio courses will have personal and course materials to be purchased in Florence. A complete list will be provided with the syllabus on the first day of class.
